Core Values in Sustainability
Environmental
Inks was founded in 1979 because of escalating concerns
for sustaining the environment for future generations. Our goal is the
same now as it was then, to provide a more eco-friendly alternative to
solvent based printing inks. As our name implies, we continue to develop
high performance products that have a minimal impact on the environment.
We go to great lengths to ensure that not only our products but also our
processes emphasize the 4 R’s of sustainability --- Reduce, Reuse,
Reclaim, and Recycle. Our current sustainability initiatives include:
-
Inaugural committee member of “Sustainable
Green Printing Partnership”
-
Member of Sustainable Packaging Coalition (a
project of GreenBlue)
-
Improved waste water reclamation systems
-
Compliance with CONEG, Reduction of Toxics in
Packaging (RTP), Proposition 65-California, as well as, global
standards such as Reduction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS)
-
Recycle and reuse of manufacturing containers
-
Sourcing innovative renewable materials to
replace petroleum based products
-
R&D to further reduce VOC levels by increasing
color strength that achieves equivalent results with a minimal ink
film
-
Software developments to match colors quickly
and consistently, to reduce waste, and to recycle excess ink into
useable product
The ink printed on a package normally represents less than 1 percent of
the mass of the package construction. Because the ink on a package does
not represent a significant obstacle to the recyclability or
degradability of the package, the practices used by the ink company to
manufacture the ink has more relevance in terms of sustainability. At
Environmental Inks , being an environmentally conscientious
company is not a new approach; we have been thinking “Green” for 30
years.
Sincerely,
